Controversial Rodrigo House only had a part of the honor given by NHCP
After years of research and deliberation, the house where the great senator Francisco “Soc” Rodrigo finally had the honor to be a historical landmark. But sadly, the historical marker won’t be able to “trespass” the house.
During the celebration of the 100 birth anniversary of Rodrigo, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) unveiled the marker containing the history of the house, but sadly, it is only beside the gate of the house, NCHP said that this was due to the selling of the ancestral house to a non-family member of the Rodrigo. Alex Balagtas, the head of Bulacan-Zambales chapter of the NHCP, said in an interview the house is considered as a part of the country’s rich history so we should protect this house. When asked whether the house will be transferred again to the Rodrigos, he said that it will a hard-time claiming it back, because of the lack of budget of the Local Government Units. Balagtas ended. |
